Organization Tips for the New Year

Happy 2023! It’s a whole new year with new possibilities in store for us all. While not everyone loves making resolutions, we do like the idea of a fresh start! One of the ways to start new is by organizing your life, home, desk, etc. to make this year feel more productive. So pick a day to start, turn up the music, throw on your favorite plus size cotton leggings and comfortable top and let’s get to organizing!

Step 1 - Create a schedule.
Don't overwhelm yourself with trying to get everything done in just one day. Create a schedule that works for you. Tackle just one area at a time—start with a drawer, a closet, a room, and go from there! If it turns out your first area requires more than one day, be proud of what you accomplished so far and be sure to schedule another day to get back into it.

Step 2 - Plan ahead.
A great example of planning out events is by meal planning. Planning your meals out for the week for yourself and your family helps you stay organized at the grocery store and at home! This is different from meal prepping; this is just a simple list of meals for the week and what ingredients you may need for each so that you have them on hand when you're ready to cook. This tactic can help your evenings go more smoothly and leave more time for organizing!

Step 3 - Ask for help.
Don't be afraid to ask for help! A friend, family member, or a professional can always help you with one of your organizational tasks! This also helps with staying motivated to finish a task. Find someone who you can have fun with and who will motivate you along the way in finishing your task!

Step 4 - Donate and sell.
Grab some boxes or bins and sort old, unwanted items. Perhaps you have some old clothing to donate. Have a yard sale if you're able to make a few dollars on your items! If you haven't used something in the last year or so, you likely don't need it. You can declutter your home with unused items that could have a second life with a new owner!

Step 5 - Celebrate your progress.
Reward yourself for completing large tasks you have been working at. Maybe a relaxing movie night at home, dinner out with friends, or even a new outfit after all that donating! It's important to reward yourself for your hard work and determination. This also helps complete tasks knowing you have a fun reward at the end.
These are our favorite top tips for organizing our lives in the new year. We hope they help you start fresh this year as well. You can do this! Have a happy, healthy, and successful 2023!
